Principal's Message
Welcome to Iva Meairs Elementary School!
I would like to welcome you to Iva Meairs Elementary School. Meairs sits in the southwest corner of Garden Grove and has served the neighborhood families since 1949. Originally a Kindergarten through fifth grade campus Meairs now has a state Preschool program as well. We are an ethnically diverse community which provides us with a rich environment for learning and growing. Our vision is that of the Westminster School District- “Building Tomorrow’s Leaders Today”.
We are very fortunate to have highly qualified teachers in all grade levels who are eager to make a positive difference in the lives of their students. They do this by providing quality classroom instruction, using research based materials, and integrating technology into their lessons. Every student has daily instruction in English Language Arts and Math, plus the opportunity to participate in our award winning hands on Science program, as well as Social Studies, the Arts and Physical Education.
Feeling safe is also an important aspect of school life here at Meairs. To make sure all of our students are safe and ready to learn we have implemented a PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) model. This includes teaching students expected behaviors and routines, and rewarding students for displaying those behaviors. Our motto is “Be Your Best! Be responsible, be safe, be respectful.”
“Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much.” This quote by Helen Keller is one of my favorites. When the school and families work together our children can go much further. We encourage all of our families to actively participate in daily school life by volunteering in the classrooms, working with the PTA, or joining us for family nights or parent workshops.
Communication is also a key component for the success of your child. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call the office at 714-372-8800 or email me at [email protected] I’m happy to talk with you or schedule a meeting. Student learning and the safety of our students are our top two priorities. As the principal I am here to support the teachers and work with the parents to ensure that these two priorities remain consistent. Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to seeing you around our campus!
Go Eagles! Watch us fly!
